Serene Scenery Sunday

Greetings to all, it's me, Maggie, here with Serene Scenery Sunday.  This week, Cammie and I thought we'd show you some of the beautiful sights we see along our walks.  Enjoying the beauty around us always makes us feel more serene.  And the walks make us a tiny bit tired, which apparently helps Mom's serenity level, too.  Whatever.  Let's get walking!

Cam and me, at an entrance to the Hudson Trail

We've had a lot of rain and storms lately, which bring gorgeous clouds like this:

The rain also makes everything green and lush and brings out interesting new things, like when we were on this walk:

"Hey, what's that up there?!?"
"Careful, Mags!"

Want to see what we saw? Check it out!

Mr. Toad

How about that?!!? A little toad! I had never seen one before, so I followed Aunt Cam's lead where he was concerned.

"Deeee-licious!"

Just kidding. No, really. Both Cam and I ignored him. Here I am with Mr. Toad:

No interest. Cam said sometimes when the bipeds say "no-no" you should actually listen to them, and toads are apparently one such case. Let's move on!

"Good girls!"

Thanks, Dad.

Here we are, approaching the Kansas Ocean after a good rainfall. Mom should know to bring her camera, not just the iPhone. Guess who was down by the KSO?

Can you see him at the water's edge, directly above my snooter? A Great Blue Heron! Mom loved seeing him, even if she didn't have her camera.

"The Heron flew over to those rocks, Mom."
"Have a nice walk!"

I was watching the Heron. Cam was watching those people who walked by. They were really nice; we both got ear rubbies and sweet talk. They smelled of Westies, so they're probably well-trained. I'd say meeting some nice people added to the overall serenity of the walk.

Up along the road to the water tower, there is a lot of this growing right now:

And a lot of these, too:

Mom just loves seeing the wildflowers at this time of year!

Thanks for coming on our walks with us.  Here's one last shot of us, with our dad - enjoy our wide-open view and the gorgeous Kansas sky!

  6. You ladies always have such pretty walks! One of these days I'm going to drag Momma up to Kansas so I can join you. I don't know WHY she doesn't consider it a hot vacation destination.
