Photo Finish Friday: As Far As The Eye Can See!

Woo, everypup and everycat.  It's me - Dave.  We aren't sure why, but Google/Blogger was WAY late yesterday as showing our post as being published.  Whatever.  Anyway, as Zim said, after he and Mom went to the Kansas Ocean (KSO), Mom went back there without him (or me, for that matter) to shoot some sunflowers with the camera.  She wanted to go into the tall grass - and until we have a hard, hard freeze and all the bugs get zapped by the cold, we aren't allowed to do that kind of thing.  (If the weather bipeds can be believed, that hard freeze is coming this weekend!)

Anyway, I helped Mom download the pix from the camera, so I thought I'd share them with you.  Who's ready for Photo Finish Friday?!?

Here's a nice stalk of sunflowers growing right down by the water:

There are also cattails in there!  (Note to Zim's kit-cat pals -- not your kind of tails!)

Here is a bunch of sunflowers growing by some of our native limestone:

Remember the picture Zim showed you that he said was one of his and Mom's faves?  Mom tried to reshoot that with the camera:

Nice ... but I think we all like the iPhone one better!

Here's an overall shot of some sunflowers and the KSO:

Here are a couple close-ups for you:

This next one has a cool bug coming in for a landing - check out the left side of the stalk:

Did you see him?  There's a bug right in the middle of this shot:

I hope they didn't try to bite or sting my mom.

Here's one of Mom's favorite camera shots:

And here's another fave:

I like how the grass is mixed in with that one!

Now ... about the title of this edition of Photo Finish Friday ... Mom said in some places, there were sunflowers are far as the eye could see!  Check out these shots:

And now get ready for an entire sea of Kansas Fall colors:

It really is sunflowers as far as the eye can see!

Me!  Davy!

The photo above has nothing to do with the surfin' sunflower safari.  It was taken with the camera and not the iPhone, though, so I thought I'd toss it in here.  Ha woo.

I hope you enjoyed our sunflower pix.  They are just so beautiful and so much a part of Kansas that we can't resist sharing with you.  If you'd like to see more (yeah, I know - there are MORE!), please feel free to visit our Sunflower Safari set on FlickR.

Happy Friday!

Luv,
Dave

  1. Can't wait for that freeze. We hear from our friends in Nebraska that it's snowing like crazy there (west neb...not Omaha).

    Wish we were there!

  2. Love love love the photos. It is a toss up to which are our favorite. It's either the first one or the last one. MOM just loves cattails and that photo was so beautiful (as they all were). And of course the last photo of you. Again she just wants to squeeze you. Hope you get your freeze so you can roam in the grass. We get our hard freeze Saturday morning.
    Blessings,
    Goose
